Mentor In Training and Camp Interns will take an active role in helping us build communities of outgoing nature stewards! A major role for the Junior Camp Mentors and Interns will be their contagious enthusiasm while assisting. Junior Mentors can apply if they have been students with us for 1 year or more in our outdoor programs. An Intern can apply if they have had 1 year or more with our program, or another outdoor and/or camp program working with children. Both will assist the Camp Mentor with various wild projects and outdoor activities throughout the day. Every day is different and flexibility and willingness to take direction and change direction at a moments notice are imperative. Most importantly, they will interact and engage with the campers, sharing stories, promoting enthusiasm, energy, fun in games and nature awareness skills.

"I am a mom to a 6 yr old girl and 9 yr old boy. We have participated in BEan in Nature's classes and camps over the last couple years. There were many things that went into our decision to homeschool, and one of them was our children's love for nature. We wanted to foster this love and teach them in a way they really enjoyed. When we found BEan in Nature, we were really thankful for a class that came alongside our families' learning in such an amazing way! Their program is very hands on and interactive. My children stay engaged the whole time, and are always excited for their BEan in Nature classes. The teachers have a spirit of fostering a love for nature, and opening the students' eyes to the beauty of our earth."

Testimonials
BEan In Nature has hands down been the best camp and organized outdoor experience for my son. We love outdoors and are always camping or doing something with scouts. However often it doesn’t leave time for just experiencing nature and learning about it in a casual way. Diamond was the best camp leader I could ask for. He was relaxed and laid back. He has great stories, a kind personality, and exceptional knowledge of wildlife and survival skills. My son loved exploring and didn’t even know he was learning! The games and activities were so fun - that he didn’t want to leave early the last day to fly to see his cousins for vacation. The whole next year he talked about camp - and ended up gathering 4 more friends to go with him because he loved it so much. It was a wild success. His ONLY request for his summer break is to spend time at this camp. And that speaks volumes.
Marisa the camp director is amazing. She is kind and patient. And very accommodating to make sure every child is comfortable. I loved leaving my son and all his friends in their hands. It was like family.

My 6 year old loved Bean In Nature camp and it was a fantastic experience for her. This was her first Summer Camp and I am glad that she loved it immensely. Everyday she would wake up excited about the camp. I think that itself speaks volumes about the time she spent with Marisa and her team. Marisa is an excellent communicator and makes everyone feel at ease - parents and kids alike. I loved that my daughter felt included in the group right from day one and made friends with other kids.
- Mother of 6 year old
My daughters have been attending Bean In Nature Summer camps and Saturday Nature Connection classes for three years and they never tire. A day in the redwoods crafting, hiking, creating and playing does wonders for mind and body. My girls have learned knife skills, plant-based first-aid, how to make cordage, wildlife biology, and campfire safety. Bean In Nature provides a friendly, comfortable setting that promotes both cooperation and independence. In fact, my older daughter wants to become a junior counselor- highly recommend this program!
- Mother to 2 preteens:)
At first I was a little nervous about sending my almost 6 year old to a camp from 9am – 3pm. She had done camps before but not one that lasted almost all day and definitely not one that was completely outside. But after seeing her reaction after the first day, I realized this camp was definitely worth it! She had a wonderful time and loved talking about what she did every day. From the face painting, to archery, to walking through the creek, she spent the week doing such worthwhile things with new friends while spending it outside in nature. I will definitely be looking at this camp for her every summer because it made such a difference in her life and I couldn’t have been happier.
Thanks so much Marisa for offering this program to kids!

My daughters loved The fairy themed wild crafting camp at Bean in Nature!
They learned about herbs and how to use them as medicinals. They enjoyed creating fairy art in the forest. Everyone there was inspiring and positive.Every day I picked them up they were upbeat and positive about their experience and eager to return the next day. They have asked to continue to do weekend classes through the school year.
Sincerely, Mary Ann Salyards
